Not that I’m complaining or anything. The photo above is from the article I was in yesterday (07.05.06) about the film festival.
You can read it online here, or if it’s been archived, download a pdf.
Last Sunday we went with some friends to Easton in Columbus and saw “Superman Returns” in IMAX 3D. Wow.
I’ve only seen IMAX movies up at Cedar Point, and I don’t even think that theatre is there anymore. So this is the first time I’ve seen an actual movie on that big a screen, let alone in 3D.
Actually, the whole movie is not in 3D, just parts. Every so often a little icon blinked on the screen telling you to put your glasses on. Probably for the best, since even as cool as the 3D was, I think we’d all be sick by the end of the movie if it was ALL 3D.
As for the movie, it was pretty good. Not “Batman Begins” good, but good. Right off the top, I was very happy they stuck with the original John Williams theme and the “swoosh” style of the opening titles. That’s like geek crack
Frankly, there were a few too many slow parts for me, but the action sequences more than made up for it. The sequence with the passenger jet was just amazing. And, of course, they left things wide open for the next movie.
